Our Story
When the much-loved Chang Thai in Ludlow closed after over 20 years of service due to unexpected building works, it left more than an empty space in the town. It meant three talented chefs were suddenly facing the loss of their jobs - and for two of them, their home as well.
For Anthony (co-founder), this was deeply personal. He had been raised by two of those chefs since he was a little boy, and they were family in every sense of the word. Faced with the idea of losing not just a restaurant, but a way of life and a shared history, Anthony turned to his partner Kelly (co-founder). On that very day, they knew they had to do something.
Within just three months of Chang Thai closing, they found a new home. What was once an English breakfast café was completely transformed, rebuilt with care, love, and respect for the food and people who made Chang Thai so special. In August 2024, Jup Jup opened its doors.
Now, over a year on, we’re proud to say that the soul of Chang Thai lives on at Jup Jup. The same passion, the same recipes, the same familiar faces and the same commitment to honest, heartfelt Thai cooking that Ludlow has loved for decades.
Jup Jup is more than a restaurant. It’s a continuation of a family, a community, and a story we’re honoured to carry forward.
